Stitching in Sunny Cal's Last full Moon for 2015 update

Here is my last official check-in for WIPocalypse for 2015.  I have really enjoyed doing this and hope it continues for 2016!!  I love to see what others are doing and it gives me some encouragement to keep stitching.  If WIPocalypse doesn't continue, I will most likely keep the full moon as my official time to update at least.

I can't say that I'm sad to see 2015 end - this has been one of the worst years our family has experienced in a long time.  Our Christmas Dinner will have a place set at the empty seat for those we've lost this year so they can join us one last time.

With that being said here is my recap of 2015:

December 25 – Theme: Recap your accomplishments for the year! (Your finishes, your final before/after photos, etc).

I needed something quick to finish with the hope of getting 2015 off to a good start.  I started this one in 2014 and finished it in 2015.  Didn't include a before picture because it looked the same except for the hair.  This one was fun and pretty simple to stitch.  Still needs to be finished into something, most likely an ornament.

I started and finished Nine Lives by Heinzit, I love these designs, they are simple and cute.  I plan on taking it to the framers to be put into the frame I purchased a while back that was made for the picture.  I could do it myself, but decided I really don't want to to do it, too frustrating to get it centered.  This was going to my grand daughter, but have decided it will spend some time in my office first.  Don't want to spoil her too much.

I started and finished Tina's stocking by SB and it has been sent off to my grand-niece to be filled by Santa this year.  This was my 10th stocking by this designer, I love doing them.  Along with the stocking I also sent a rag quilt..

Another start and finish was a Lizzy Kate design - Let them All Be Small (I think is the name) - This one wasn't a planned start this year for me - it was one that I started because of the death of our daughter, I've really taken this hard and this x-stitch called out to me so I remember that I need to spend time with my other kids and grandchildren at every opportunity.  Not to fret over things and to treasure each day.  It's not framed yet, but will be in 2016, just trying to decide how I want it framed.  Want to find a picture of the kids go with it I think.

This SB wasn't a planned start and finish either.  When I went to the X-stitch store to see what was new after the February market, I saw it and decided I needed to it for my granddaughter.  It was finished into a small box, which I put the rock she picked up when we scattered her Mom's ashes (our daughter) and also added a few of her favorite candy and a necklace.  I hope she likes it.

Next up is my Mirabilia - August Fairy I started this in 2014 and finished it with the exception of the beading in 2015.  I've started to bead it, so it will get finished now that I've started the process.  I really like the colors in the wings on this design and I'm sure my daughter (who is born in August) will love it.  This one might squeak in before the year is over :)  I have January, June and September that Id' like to do, but those are another start for another year.

Another new start, but not quite finish is my Letter D Mermaid.  The stitching is done, but the beading needs to be completed.  Once the fairy is done, then I will put this one on the floor stand so I can use both hands to bead.  I started the D for Donna (she picked it out) and also an A for Arwen (my other granddaughter).  The A isn't done yet, but hoping to work on it during 2016.

OK Jillian's Stocking by SB was completely stitched at the end of 2014, but hadn't been finished into a stocking.  Of all of the Christmas stockings I have done, this was the first one that wasn't finished for the baby's first Christmas.  I felt bad about it, but I was in such a funk at the end of 2014 and I just physically didn't have energy to do it.  It's done now and my grand-niece will have it filled.  She also got a rag quilt that was started and completed this year.  I love the rag quilt - got to sue some of my favorite flannel material in it.

I had planned on doing 3 quarters on one of my oldest WIP/UFO's in my stash.  I started this one back in 1998 for my niece.  She turned 18 in November and it's still not completed.  At this point I think it will be completed for her once she moves into her first place as a house warming gift.  Given she has 3 1/2 years of college left, I think I still have some time.  The afghan shows A - N, and I completed O and I started the P (Panda), but didn't get very far.

So these are my finishes for 2015 :)  Not too bad, but not as many as I would have liked.  So now I need to take pictures of all of my WIP's and put them into a new photo album so I know where I'm starting and then add my new starts.  I want to work on more painted canvases this year, in honor of my sister I'm hoping to do some Wizard of Oz ornaments, so look for pictures.

I also did about 42 pillow cases for Christmas - this is a picture of one of the stacks before they were finished.  My favorites was the walking dead/zombie and Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven.   Also had some really neat Minion material.

I've started my list of WIP/UFO's and will add what I want to start in 2016 and post my intent sometime next week.  I still have 3 more days off before I go back to work on Monday and I'm getting to spend 2 of those 3 with my 2 daughters.  Next week will be a sweet short week too :) and then another long weekend!!  Hubby and I will bring New Year's together, which means we'll most likely sleep through it LOL, but that's OK as long as we are together.

I hope you all have had a blessed 2015 and that the best is yet to come in 2016.   I hope the frog lives in someone else's pond, your needles stay put and your is thread long enough to finish your row.

Have a Merry Christmas and give your children or other special people a huge hug, and never pass up an opportunity to tell them how much you love them.  I know I won't ever pass up that opportunity.
