Blogging on.....

in the new year

So here it is, almost a full moon again, according to my phone's app, we are at 99.1733% full, tomorrow will be a tad bit closer and then Sunday we start going towards the new moon.  So I'm going to go ahead and post it tonight.

The topic for the 1st full moon of the year is to introduce yourself and your projects for 2016.  Well I'm Sandy (Sandra at work because I want to sound more professional and grown up).  My hubby and I have 4 children and 4 grandchildren.  Unfortunately we don't live close to them anymore and I miss them terrible.  I'm very much a family person and when I pick out things to do it is generally with someone in mind.  Maybe that is why I have such a wide variety of projects going on.  I do plan on taking pictures of all of my WIP's when I do my wall of shame.  Most likely that will be another weekend project.

I've been cross stitching for a very long time, not as long as I've sewn, maybe around 40 years now.  About 16 years ago I was introduced to needlepoint and went a little crazy and about 12 years ago I was introduced to quilting.  The quilting hasn't taken off as much as the needlepoint has, but I do have lots of fabric in my stash, have always loved fabric, been sewing for over 45 years.

This year I've made more realistic goals than last year.  I've picked some projects that I really want to do, some small and some a little bit bigger.  So with maybe I can manage some finishes and get my WIP's under control, I really think left unattended they multiply on their own, cause I keep finding new ones ALL the time.

So here is my wish list for 2016 and I'm hoping this blog will keep me on track:

Canvases/Counted Needlepoint
  1. Emerald City
  2. Dorothy
  3. Glenda
  4. Wicked Witch of the East
  5. Flying Monkey
  6. Ruby Slippers
  7. The Wiz - NOT from Wizard of OZ
Counted Cross Stitch
  1. August Fairy-Peridot (just needs the beads)
  2. EarthDancer
  3. Mermaid Letter D (just needs the beads)
  4. Mermaid Letter A
  5. In Memory of Jane (aka Multiplication table)
  6. Inspire Other (over one design)
  7. Either Peter's Patch or Angel's song
Quilts
  1. Thimbleberry 2009 quilt (just needs to be assembled)
  2. Dr. Seuss Take 5 quilt ( just needs borders)
So I guess I have 16 projects to complete, maybe I am doing my own crazy challenge of 16 in 2016 :)

Here is my start for January - haven't worked on anything else yet this month.  I've completed a little bit more than this, but not much.  I'm changing it up a little bit - I removed the writing at the top and will do the same at the bottom and add two more rows.  I want it to go through 12, the last couple of columns of numbers will be tricky, but I'm sure I'll figure it out :)

I did get my stretcher bars so tonight I'll put some of my needlepoints on them and then pull threads on Sunday when I can pull out all of my threads and play a little bit.
